Project Directory:Improvements to Existing Triangle Cabins Female Staff Residence (Five Star) New Shed for Trailer Residence
Project Completed Spring 2010:Maintenance Shop Insulation
Although the shop is now insulated, there is still room for improvement. Our Massey tractor won't fit inside, making oil changes in winter a difficulty. The shop also has no floor drain system, which will affect it's usage for de-icing vehicles, etc this winter. It will, however, be able to provide a great place for tackling projects indoors when the temperature drops.
Project Ongoing:House Trailer Residence
This two-bedroom house trailer serves as a year-round residence. Improvements are ongoing - so far, the tin-dome roof has been replaced with a new trussed roof, Manitoba Hydro grants have improved the insulation in the roof and walls, new windows have been donated and installed, and the exterior has been sealed with house wrap and new siding. There is an addition being added to provide and entrance and storage room.
Many donations and work crews have made this possible - thank you!
Project Ongoing:Guys Res Reno
What was once the dining hall (in use until summer 2007) is in the middle of a transformation inside and out! Since winter 2009, this building has been undergoing renovation into a male staff residence, including two showers, laundry facilities, a bathroom, a dorm-style bunk area and a private apartment for Duane, full-time maintenance director. With indoor renos mostly completed, our maintenance crew has been tackling the exterior: 1.5" Styrofoam insulation, roof extension, new shingles, soffit, fascia, and log cabin siding.
Project Completed Spring 2010:Improvements to Existing Triangle Cabins
Our two existing triangular guys cabins got a face lift in spring of 2010. These cabins were in desperate need of repair - both Bethel and Jerusalem received new shingles, soffit, fascia, stairs, and log cabin siding. These improvements will go a long way in protecting these facilities from damage by moisture and squirrels.
Thanks to everyone who helped us in being good stewards of these cabins by donating and volunteering!
Project Ongoing, Scheduled Completion Fall 2010:New Triangle Cabin
This project was started in spring of 2010, and will add another triangle cabin to our current two. Located across from Bethel and Jerusalem, this cabin is part of long-term visioning for our camp facilities. It will house eight campers and two to three counselors when finished. We have been blessed by God through the generosity of donors who have made this project financially possible. Thank-You!
Project Ongoing, Scheduled Completion 2011:New Archery Site
Our new archery site is being developed for use in 2011. The Winkler MB Church youth group helped us clear an area in the woods near the “Open Play Area” fall 2009.
We will also be purchasing an archery backstop net to catch arrows that miss the target and new outdoor targets to replace our current straw bale targets. These investments will set us up for long-term success in our archery program.
The estimated cost for this new site and equipment improvements is $1500.
Project Completed 2009:Female Staff Residence (aka the "Five Star")
This new girls res project was not in the budget for 2009, but God had other plans! The shell of this building was donated, moved to camp, and finished with the help of many businesses, donors, volunteers and camp staff.
We can now provide beds for 13 staff, as well as two common shower units, two common toilets, sinks and lots of counter/mirror space. This residence is also equipped with a living room, kitchenette, and laundry facilities.
Stay tuned for finished interior photos!
Fundraising Ongoing, Project Completed 2008:Dining Hall Building Project
See Dining Hall Project Photos
VisionThe Vision was for all of our campers to be able to eat under one roof, to have a rainy-day chapel location, and to be able to host off-season rental groups more efficiently. The old dining hall didn't have nearly enough space to do all of this.
PlanConstruction is finished, but fund-raising continues. The total cost was $330,000. As of July 2010, there was just under $19,000 left owing on this building.
How you can helpGive: the building has been completed, but there is still an amount owing on the building. Pray: a facility is just a physical structure. We need prayer warriors to stand behind our ministry if it is to be effective.
